Russia is a land of vast extremes—stretching across eleven time zones and encompassing forests, tundras, and mountains. It holds immense natural wealth, yet much of its history has been marked by oppression and disparity—where the powerful few have ruled over the powerless many.
The fall of the Soviet Union in 1991 brought political change and new freedoms, yet decades later, the nation continues to wrestle with deep wounds: a struggling economy, corruption, and widespread disillusionment. Under the leadership of Vladimir Putin, Russia remains embroiled in conflicts and wars that have brought suffering both at home and abroad. Yet even in this shadow, the light of the Gospel is not extinguished.
In the heart of western Russia lies Kazan, one of Europe’s oldest cities and the capital of the Tatarstan Republic. Known for its rich culture, strong education system, and Islamic heritage, nearly half of Kazan’s residents are Tatar Muslims, one of Russia’s largest unreached people groups. Amid tightening government control and resurging nationalism, followers of Jesus in Russia—often small and scattered—stand as beacons of truth and hope, proclaiming that freedom is found not in politics or power, but in Christ alone.
This is a decisive hour for the Church in Russia—to rise with courage, humility, and love, proclaiming that Jesus is Kingand that His Kingdom alone brings true deliverance and peace.
Pray for the salvation of the Tatar people, that hearts would be opened to the Gospel and that Jesus would reveal Himself in dreams, visions, and relationships. (Romans 10:14–15)
Pray for repentance and humility among Russia’s leaders, that they would bow before the King of Kings and rule with justice and mercy. (Proverbs 21:1, Psalm 72:11)
Pray for boldness and protection for believers in Kazan and across Russia who face pressure, monitoring, and persecution for their faith. (Acts 4:29–31)
Pray for deliverance from spiritual deception and ideological control, that the truth of the Gospel would break through the lingering spirit of communism and fear. (John 8:32)
Pray for revival across Russia, that churches would unite in prayer, discipleship, and mission—becoming a sending force to every unreached people group within their borders and beyond. (Habakkuk 2:14)
